Star Citizen Alpha 4.9 is currently on the LIVE environment. Before treating a problem as a fault with your own PC, check the RSI Status page, the current known-issues list and the Alpha 4.9 release notes. This snapshot was reviewed on 6 August 2026.
Where to begin
Creating an RSI account? Check the referral information first, then use the Free Fly and Getting Started resources. That order matters because RSI only allows a referral code during account creation or within the following 24 hours.
Something is not working? Open Help & Troubleshooting before deleting files or reinstalling the game. Server incidents, current known issues and a stuck launcher can look very similar, but they need different fixes.
Planning an activity? Open the relevant career page to compare the current tools, understand the main workflow and check which patch-sensitive details could affect the trip.
How to judge whether a Star Citizen guide is still useful
A guide can be well written and still be wrong for the current LIVE build. Check its publication or update date, the patch number it names and whether the linked tool says which game data it is using. Exact shop locations, prices, mission payouts, keybinds and material sources are the first details to go stale.
- Use RSI Status, official patch notes, the current known-issues article and official gameplay guides for rules and live-service information.
- Use community databases and calculators for planning, comparison and fast searches, then confirm expensive or important decisions in game.
- Treat Roadmap cards as development direction rather than a guaranteed delivery date.
- When two sources disagree, prefer the one that identifies the current LIVE build and shows when its data was refreshed.
